Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of Counselling?
The first meeting is an assessment, a chance for me to see if I think I can help you and a chance for you to see if you feel comforatable with me. I charge a flat rate of £30 for this and it lasts 60 minutes.

I charge between £30 and £60 for a 50 minute session. The fee is dependent on the time of the appointment, daytime being the cheapest, evenings more expenisve and Saturday morning the most expensive. However I do keep space for 2 clients who I will see at lower rates if they are low waged, unemployed or in genuine difficulty. Call me to see when I am able to offer such concessions.

How long will counselling last?
Short term work if you have a very specific issue can be between 6-8 sessions. Issues relating to depression can take considerable longer. I discuss this at the outset and we can review how our work is progressing at any time.

How frequently will I need to visit?
Once a week is usually preferable to enable us to build the counselling relationship and explore issues that are current and well remembered. Towards the end of the counselling it is sometimes useful to phase the ending by incorporating some fortnightly visits and end of some monthly reviews.
